Our history
In my years of being a psychiatrist, I have worked in multiple hospital systems and practice settings - Los Angeles County Medical Center, Keck Hospital of USC, Kaiser Permanente, Exodus Recovery Urgent Care, Crisis Intervention and Inpatient Unit at Ventura County Medical Center, and finally private practice with David Wexler Medical Practitioner. I have picked up the best and purged the worst from my experiences to give you Psychiatry with Dr. Lei to emphasize a small-scale intimate approach to mental health care. The practice has since morphed and grown into Ascend Psychiatry with the help of Michelle, my business manager. We hope to accentuate that together, we can ascend to a better tomorrow with a healthier you.

Tired of wondering where your doctor is? Here at Ascend, we believe in accessibility and timely responsiveness. You have direct access to me, your one and only provider, without ever needing to go through a mid-level or covering doctor who doesn’t know your history. You can be sure I will respond at the earliest opportunity to minimize gratuitous distress.
Psychodynamic Approach
We will not only discuss the impact of medications on your body, we will delve into how your past experiences have shaped your current maladaptive patterns and tendencies. My goal for every patient is to help them reach insights that lead to independence from rather than reliance on pharmacological solutions.
Convenience and Flexibility
All of our encounters are virtual, which means you can be anywhere in California for us to connect. You never have to leave the comfort of your home to get your health taken care of. Traveling out of state? Not a problem. As long as you have adequate internet service to support our video call and a private space to discuss your medical concerns, you don’t have to put your health on hold. Additionally, I accommodate after-hours appointments to work with your work/school schedule.
Payments
Dr. Lei is an "out-of-network" provider and does not accept any insurance plan. She will provide a billing statement ("super-bill") which may be submitted for insurance reimbursement.
Payments are accepted through credit card, debit card, Zelle, and Venmo. Payment is due at the time of service.
